How to Join a Cobblemon Server
Cobblemon multiplayer works like any modded Minecraft server: you need Minecraft: Java Edition, the same Minecraft and Cobblemon version as the server, and sometimes the server's own modpack. Most servers take about five minutes to set up.
Before you start
- Minecraft: Java Edition. Cobblemon is a Java mod, so you can't join from Bedrock, consoles or phones.
- The server's Minecraft version. Most Cobblemon servers run 1.21.1, the version current Cobblemon releases are built for.
- What the server asks for. Every server on our Cobblemon server list is marked "No modpack needed", "Modpack required" or "Own launcher required".
Option 1: a server that needs no modpack
- Download the Fabric installer, choose Minecraft 1.21.1 and install the client. A "fabric-loader-1.21.1" profile appears in the Minecraft Launcher.
- Download Cobblemon for Fabric 1.21.1 and Fabric API, Cobblemon's only required dependency on Fabric. Both are also on CurseForge.
- Put both
.jarfiles in your mods folder, and create it if it isn't there:%appdata%\.minecraft\modson Windows,~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/modson macOS,~/.minecraft/modson Linux. - Start the Fabric profile, open Multiplayer, click Add Server, paste the server IP, click Done and then Join Server.
Prefer an app? The Modrinth App, the CurseForge app or Prism Launcher can do steps 1 to 3 for you: create a Minecraft 1.21.1 Fabric instance, add Cobblemon, and the dependency is installed with it.
A few servers run NeoForge instead. For those, install NeoForge for 1.21.1, then Cobblemon for NeoForge and Kotlin for Forge, its required dependency there.
Option 2: a server with its own modpack or launcher
- Find the modpack link on the server's website or Discord. Every server page here links to both.
- Install the pack with the app it's published for (usually the Modrinth App or the CurseForge app) and launch it.
- Open Multiplayer, add the server IP and join.
Servers marked "Own launcher required" have a launcher on their website that installs everything and usually connects you straight away.
Fixing common errors
- "Incompatible client", "Outdated client" or "Outdated server"
- Your Minecraft version doesn't match the server's. Start the profile or instance for the server's version.
- Disconnected with a message about mods, registries or versions
- Your Cobblemon version differs from the server's, or the server needs extra mods. Match the Cobblemon version the server lists, or install its modpack.
- "Connection timed out" or "Can't connect to server"
- Check the IP, including any
:portat the end. Then check the server's live status on its page here: servers that don't answer our checks drop off the lists until they're back. - The game crashes on start
- Usually a mod built for another Minecraft version, or a missing dependency. Take out mods you added yourself and start with only Cobblemon and its dependency.
Cobblemon multiplayer with friends
- Join a public server together. The quickest option: pick one from the list and share the IP.
- Same network. In a single-player world, choose Open to LAN. Friends on the same network with the same mods can join from Multiplayer.
- Your own server. Install a Fabric server with Cobblemon and Fabric API (on your own machine or a game host), then everyone joins with the matching client setup from Option 1.
